The story of the rescue and marvelous turn-of-events in the life of this little fight-bust boy have been chronicled on the Bad Rap web site blog: Home for Christmas. One bust dog's little miracle http://badrap-blog.blogspot.com/
That's the fella pictured here. A happy little guy who just knew his life up until the day he met the Bad Rap folks and their fellow evaluators from A Rotta Love Plus was a terrible mistake. That he was actually meant for something more than a life on a chain and being disposed of in a burning barrel on his master's property if he didn't live up to his expectations in the pit.
I'm the Midwest Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue person for and went down to spring him and take him to my vet for a complete checkup before releasing him to Lynn, a bull-breed lover and an incredible dog trainer with the highly-regarded K9 Coach, here in the Twin Cities. Turned out he had heartworm! My vet agreed to wait for payment for the $260 he was owed, and unfortunately he is still waiting. I can't prove Monkey is a purebred Stafford, and while he looks very close . . . and that won't do it for reimbursement from the Club.
Meanwhile Lynn has paid for his heartworm treatment -at cost - but her vet bill was $218. She recently spent down her savings treating her two older pit ladies: one with cancer, the other with an autoimmune disease.
So Monkey is pleading for help with his vet bills related to his heart worm treatment.
Why would even a dog fighter let his dog get heartworm? I mean, it would weaken the dog in a fight. I guess they are just that disposable.
You can click on Pay Pal to make a contribution and I will remove the button when we have the bills paid - if I get anything extra I will forward it to Bad Rap. Or you can make a contribution directly to the two vets involved: East Lake Animal Clinic, in c/o Monkey, 4104 E. Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55406.
Uptown Vet, in c/o Monkey, 3131 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55408. These are small vet's offices, so it would be difficult for them to take many small contributions over the phone.
Here is a link to the K9 Coach, which features a bio of Lynn. Did this little guy luck out (aside from the heartworm) or what?! http://www.thek9coach.com/dogtrainers.php
